Every since I first discovered the magic of Repell-em products, I have worn a strip of Repell-em tied around my wrist and ankle whenever I cut the grass or did any kind of yard work at all.  It worked, too; with that little piece of Repell-em on me, insects could not see or smell me and I could work - or play - outside with no worry of being buzzed, annoyed, or stung.

Today, I was in a hurry and didn’t tie any Repell-em around my wrist and ankle before I scurried out to mow.

Guess what?  Because of my stupidity forgetfulness, I’m now covered in chigger bites.

I will never forget my Repell-em ties, ever again.  They are such a small thing to do such a huge and perfect job.

I said “perfect” and I MEANT “perfect.”  Repell-em has never let me down.

Now, I hope we have some calamine lotion.  I’m in misery.

Next time, I’ll be SURE to remember to tie on some Repell-em before setting foot outside.

Today is Labor Day, but insects and other pests do not take holidays.  In fact, holidays are fantastic times to use Repell-em products, because on holidays there are always more people and more food and more, well, garbage.

Many people like to picnic on Labor Day, and what is a picnic without bees, ants, flies, and gnats?  Put a Repell-em tablecloth on the picnic table and put a Repell-em trash bag in the wastebasket and you’ll not see any of the usual picnic pests.

We eat outside a lot in the summer.  This used to be both wonderful and terrible; the wonderful part was being together and eating lots of great BBQ and corn on the cob, and playing volleyball with butter still dripping down our elbows.  The terrible part was dealing with the swarms and hordes of insects, that loved it when we ate out, too, and for all the same reasons.

When the weather is nice, I like to drive to the high school and walk around the track.  I’ve been walking every night this week, in fact.

The problem is, I’m not the only one who loves this warm, breezy weather.  The bugs like it, too.  I came home from the track those first few nights covered with mosquito bites.  I hate that!

Then I thought, Hmmm, I put a little strip of Repell-em around my ankle and wrist when I work in the garden. . . I bet it would work for walking the track, too!

And it did.

I’ve tried smelly insect repellents for track-walking in the past, and I hate them.  Oh, they work, but at what cost?  A lot more than a strip of Repell-em costs, that’s for sure, but even more than that?

There are so many uses for Repell-em products.  And so far, everything I’ve tried with Repell-em has worked like a charm!

My husband and I decided that this one sunny day of the entire month of June (so far) should be spent weeding out the completely out-of-control raised vegetable bed in the back yard.

It’s made of railroad ties, and it’s about two feet wide and fifteen feet long.  Until an hour ago, it was surrounded on all sides by weeds as tall as two feet.  We had to step on those to get to the even taller weeds INSIDE our railroad flat.  Finally, the job was done.

Don’t laugh.  Chiggers bite, and they bite HARD, and the bites itch and ache and last for days and days.

Today, we just tied little strips of Repellem around our ankles and went to work.

It’s been an hour, and so far, no evidence of any chigger attacks whatsoever.

Not only do I use Repell-em, and only Repell-em, products in my home, I also use Repell-em products for all kinds of other reasons!  Bug-free gardening is only one  of them!  On Wednesday, I’ll tell you how I use Repell-em products in the garden itself.  NO BUGS!  NO BUGS ON MY TOMATOES!

I was in a store tonight looking at the garden supplies and I saw a display of those coiled insect-repelling bracelets; they were priced at five dollars apiece.

Why would you ever pay that much for something like that when all you need to do is cut one of your Repell-em bags into strips and tie them around the ankles or wrists of your children and yourself and you’d get the same result, except perhaps just a little bit BETTER!!!!

Repell-em products certainly smell better.  And it’s true:  Repell-em products are far more effective at keeping away the insects than anything else you can buy.  Even specialized products can’t do a better job than Repell-em.

Remember, Repell-em not only makes the best tablecloths, trash bags, and camping supplies than any other company:  Repell-em products have so many more uses than just what’s on the label.

Mushroom hunting? Berry picking? Hiking? Whenever we walk through the tall grass, we run the risk of being attacked and devoured by chiggers. People giggle at the word “chigger” because, let’s fact it, it’s a funny word; however, when chiggers decide your body would be a lovely entree, it’s not so funny.

Chigger bites not only itch far, far worse than mosquito bites: they also HURT. They’re huge, and red, and unsightly, and just generally no fun. No amount of showering will help, and the more you scratch, the worse they itch.

There are many products on the market today that promise relief from the bites or immunity from the insects themselves, but most of these products are chemical in nature and must contain a warning about safety.

Why bother with chemicals and dangerous substances and sprays and lotions when all you really have to do is cut a strip of Repell-em and tie it around your wrist or ankle? There is nothing in Repell-em products that is dangerous or caustic - Repell-em is made of all natural ingredients- and the combination of these natural ingredients results in a compote so potent that it will not only keep the bugs away: it will always discourage any wild animals from approaching you.

It’s mushroom season here in southern Indiana, and many people, even though they love deep-fried morel mushrooms with a passion, opt not to search for them simply because of the chiggers. Share your strips of Repell-em with these people and encourage them to head for the woods; with Repell-em, no one need fear the insects.

Just don’t show yourselves in MY mushroom territory. People around here get really protective of their mushroom territories.
