All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

Archive for the 'Insect allergies' Category

I was in a store tonight looking at the garden supplies and I saw a display of those coiled insect-repelling bracelets; they were priced at five dollars apiece.

Why would you ever pay that much for something like that when all you need to do is cut one of your Repell-em bags into strips and tie them around the ankles or wrists of your children and yourself and you’d get the same result, except perhaps just a little bit BETTER!!!!

Repell-em products certainly smell better.  And it’s true:  Repell-em products are far more effective at keeping away the insects than anything else you can buy.  Even specialized products can’t do a better job than Repell-em.

Remember, Repell-em not only makes the best tablecloths, trash bags, and camping supplies than any other company:  Repell-em products have so many more uses than just what’s on the label.

Mushroom hunting? Berry picking? Hiking? Whenever we walk through the tall grass, we run the risk of being attacked and devoured by chiggers. People giggle at the word “chigger” because, let’s fact it, it’s a funny word; however, when chiggers decide your body would be a lovely entree, it’s not so funny.

chigger370_1Chigger bites not only itch far, far worse than mosquito bites: they also HURT. They’re huge, and red, and unsightly, and just generally no fun. No amount of showering will help, and the more you scratch, the worse they itch.

There are many products on the market today that promise relief from the bites or immunity from the insects themselves, but most of these products are chemical in nature and must contain a warning about safety.

Why bother with chemicals and dangerous substances and sprays and lotions when all you really have to do is cut a strip of Repell-em and tie it around your wrist or ankle? There is nothing in Repell-em products that is dangerous or caustic - Repell-em is made of all natural ingredients- and the combination of these natural ingredients results in a compote so potent that it will not only keep the bugs away: it will always discourage any wild animals from approaching you.

morelmushroomIt’s mushroom season here in southern Indiana, and many people, even though they love deep-fried morel mushrooms with a passion, opt not to search for them simply because of the chiggers. Share your strips of Repell-em with these people and encourage them to head for the woods; with Repell-em, no one need fear the insects.

Just don’t show yourselves in MY mushroom territory. People around here get really protective of their mushroom territories.

My mother belongs to a missionary society, and these ladies regularly pack boxes full of necessities and maybe a few luxuries to mail to the members of their church who are currently living overseas, most of them in very hot countries and with very few amenities to make things pleasant.

Mom was telling me about a letter they’d received from one of their missionaries, and in this letter, a lady was describing their never-ending battle with scavenging animals and insects. She told the church ladies that she and her family were always covered with bug bites, always itching, always shaking the sheets to be rid of the spiders and heaven-knows-what else. There is always a bug in everybody’s shoe, always an animal sniffing around the trash, and it was to the point that it was dangerous to let the children play outside. She described the stray dogs and coyotes, the raccoons and other wild and semi-wild and even fairly tame animals who made hash and hay of any trash or garbage. This lady lamented that even though churches sent really nice, expensive trash bags all the time, none of them could stand up to the insects and hungry animals of this area of the planet.

So, I gave Mom one of my boxes of Repell-em trash bags to pack in the missionary box, and I asked the church ladies to ask the missionaries if they would mind reporting back to me on whether or not the Repell-em product did the trick and kept the bugs and stray animals away from the bagged garbage.

When I hear, I’ll let you all know!

One more thank-you to everyone who entered the Repell-em contest; those of you who responded in time with your mailing information should be getting your sample very soon.

There will be another Repell-em contest in the spring, so keep watching this blog for details!

And hey, if you plan on sending a box of whatever to missionaries, friends, etc. who are living in a hot, insect-y country, you might consider putting some Repell-em products in there. I’m betting that Repell-em magic will make a world of difference to someone who is living a world away, trying to make the world a better place.

trophyThe Repell-em Contest is over, and here are our winners!

First Prize - $75.00 in Repell-em products - goes to Melissa of Pennsylvania. Melissa impressed us with her poetry:

Insects, animals, pests, and more, Will do whatever they can to get in my door.

I try and I try to keep them away, But it seems they are here forever to stay.

They make me squirm, itch, and twitch; I wish I could chase them away with no hitch.

I found this cool site while surfing one day; Repell-em products will make them go away.

So I ordered a case and got ’em sent to my home; No more bugs and animals around my house shall roam!

No more ants at my picnic, no more raccoons in the trash; Repell-em products work - for not much cash.

Now I am happy as can be. Thanks, Repellem, for saving me!

Thank you, Melissa, for entering the Repell-em Contest. Enjoy your winnings!

Second Prize - $50.00 in Repell-em products - goes to Doug, the Boy Scout Leader. Doug told us, in his comment, that “I think Repell-em products are cool because as a Boy Scout leader who participates in most of the camping, I like the campsite to be as comfortable as possible to everyone. The Scouts can have greater satisfaction in their outdoor experience with fewer bugs around. A more satisfying experience means the longer the young adults will participate in the program. The longer they participate, the more character building occurs. So Repell-em can help build character in youth and shape the future of this country!”

Thank you, Doug, for entering the Repell-em Contest. We hope you enjoy your winnings, too!

Third Prize - $25.00 in Repell-em products - goes to Patricia, who never goes camping without Repell-em! Here is what she had to say: “We don’t go camping without Repell-em bags. They are perfect for after-meal clean-up, and we don’t have to worry about the raccoons at night. I feel better knowing that MY little critters are safe from toxic fumes. My daughters know that we are helping the environment by choosing biodegradable bags. So, everyone is happy.”

Thank you, Patricia. We’re glad you entered our contest, and we hope you enjoy your winnings, too.

If you entered the Repell-em Contest and haven’t received an email from Jane about your free sample, please send an email to Jane@onebyonemedia TODAY! We don’t want to leave anyone who entered our contest out!

Also, the three winners have been selected and notified; if you are one of them and haven’t replied, please do so IMMEDIATELY. Names will be posted tomorrow!

skunkRepell-em products are excellent for use, no matter where you might live. Right here in southern Indiana, as I type, we’re experiencing some really bad infestations of skunks in our basements and crawl-spaces. Whenever it rains a lot, the skunks are washed out of their homes and they tend to take up residence in ours.

If they just smelled better, it might not be so bad!

Skunks are aggressive and determined, and they tend to have large families. Once the skunks have established themselves in your house, it’s almost impossible to get them out. Unless, of course, you have some Repell-em bags.

Just take a Repell-em trash bag and hang it from the ceiling of the cellar or crawlspace; the skunks - and any raccoons, possums, or neighbor’s dogs that might have had some ideas about moving in - will actually RUN out the door, or whatever opening they might have made for themselves.

It’s a lot easier than the standard removal remedies such as flooding the crawlspace, tearing a big hole in the foundation, or filling your basement with dangerous poisons.

There’s a reason our products are called Repell-em, folks. They REPEL almost all insects, spiders, and most four-legged critters.

Plus, they’re completely biodegradable. Who says it’s not easy being green?

contestThe Repell-em Contest ends in three more days - Friday, Feb. 15th is the last day to enter! Remember, everyone who enters gets a free sample. (Remember, too, that to get your free sample, we’ll be asking you via email for your mailing address. Don’t worry; we won’t share it or do anything creepy with it.)

I live out in the country, and each summer, we plant a big garden. I don’t like to use sprays or pesticides on something I plan to eat later on, but it’s hard to keep up with the insect world when it comes to big red tomatoes, bright yellow corn, or those beautiful green beans and peas. The bugs love them as much as we do, and some summers, the bugs end up feasting on most of it. The deer, raccoons, and turtles eat their share and more, too.

This summer, I’m going to try an experiment.

I’ve lined the furrows between each row of vegetables with plastic bags before, to keep the weeds down, and that worked well. It didn’t do anything for the bug and animal problem, though.

This summer, I’m going to line the furrows with Repell-em bags.

I know that weeds can’t grow underneath any kind of waterproof liner, and I’m betting and banking on the Repell-em formula to keep away any insect or animal that might otherwise be tempted to feast on the buffet in my back yard.

Once I get that garden planted, I’ll keep you all posted on the progress.

A garden in springtime is full of blossoms, and blossoms attract bees and other potentially dangerous stinging insects. I’m extremely allergic to bee and wasp venom, and can’t visit my garden while it’s flowering. This summer, I hope I can!

Repell-em bags are the BEST TRASH BAGS in the world, and there are so many other uses for them, too!

contestDon’t forget to enter the Repell-em Contest! We’ve extended the deadline until February 15th because we’re introducing some new products!

Toddlers and small children often have sensitive skin. When they play outside, they often get bitten by mosquitoes and chiggers because regular insect repellents are too harsh for that sensitive skin. What are we to do? Children need to play outside, but those bites are not only itchy, they can be dangerous!

Solution? Tie a little strip of Repell-em bag on your child’s wrist or ankle, or wad a piece of Repell-em bag into your child’s pocket! Just a small strip will do the trick; don’t ever leave a small child alone with an intact trash bag!

Repell-em bags are made of all-natural ingredients, and will not harm your child or irritate his/her sensitive skin.

Parents also worry about stray animals molesting their tiny children; with a bit of Repell-em on their body, stray dogs, as well as raccoons, possums, etc, won’t come near your child. In other words, with a little Repell-em in their pocket or around their wrist or ankle, your child will be safe from insects, spiders, and animals.

A little piece of Repell-em in YOUR pocket or around YOUR wrist or ankle will do the same for you.

contestResponse to the Repell-em Contest has been fantastic! We’ve extended the deadline, so there’s still time to enter!

You know, if you’re on the lookout for a unique Valentine’s Day gift for your outdoorsy sweetheart, or maybe just your sweetheart-who-hates-bugs-and-mice, don’t forget that Repell-em bags are red. Like a Valentine. Hey, not everyone is into candy and jewels!

Later in the month, we’re going to start quoting some of the many entrants’ clever and creative ’takes’ on Repell-em products. We’ve even got poets among us! It’s wonderful! It’s fantastic! We’re so proud and glad to be sending free stuff to these great people!

Entrants, please remember that we will be asking you for your mailing address when the contest is over, so we can send your freebies to you. We won’t be selling, sharing, or abusing your address in any way, so please don’t worry about that part of it.

After a few days of sub-zero weather, it’s been like spring here again. This makes me long for April and the REAL springtime, which also makes me think about new and different ways to use my Repell-em products. Oh, don’t get me wrong, Repell-em bags work GREAT for their intended purpose, but there are so many additional uses for them, too!

The thickest, toughest, most expensive regular trash bag in the world won’t keep away the stray dogs if you set it out the night before the garbage truck comes along, but Repell-em bags will. A Hefty bag in your closet won’t help the moth, spider, insect, or mouse situation in there, either. Repell-em bags will keep all of those things out of your stuff.

If you haven’t entered our contest yet, please do so. But only if you love free stuff and hate having your clothing, shoes, and body invaded by vermin and creepy crawlie things and the neighbor’s undisciplined dogs. If you like being covered with mosquito bites and having to shake mouse poop out of your shoes every morning, continue using those flimsy white plastic trash bags.

contestDon’t forget to enter the Repell-em Contest! We’ve extended the deadline until the middle of February because we’re going to be introducing some new products. Remember, everyone who enters gets a free sample!

Spiders are with us season-round, but it seems they are at their peak in the early spring and fall. Well, technically, it’s still winter, but early spring is just around the corner, and before you put your foot into a shoe you haven’t worn in a while, be sure you shake it so any brown recluse spiders are gone before your skin goes in.

What’s the big deal about a brown recluse spider, you might ask. They’re small and very plain; what harm could a brown recluse spider do, that should make you so keen to remove them from your home completely, and check all shoes and gloves before putting a foot or hand in them?

For one thing, ANY spider bite is painful and can cause all kinds of problems, especially if the victim turns out to have an allergy to spider-spit.

But the bite of that dusty brown ordinary-looking little brown recluse is extra-harsh. These little spiders are VENOMOUS. Their bites aren’t just painful and itchy; they can kill ya. And before you die, your skin is pretty much eaten away, slowly and painfully. Like this: spiderbite

Lady forgot to check her boot before inserting her foot. ———->

An easy way to keep your closet free of all insects and spiders, including the brown recluse, is to keep a Repell-em bag in there at all times. Just get a Repell-em bag, unfold it, roll it up long, and lay it across the back of your closet.

Voila! No bugs. No spiders. No mice, either.

And no moths!

Plus, your closet will smell really nice.

Need a great gift for a Boy/Girl Scout? How about a tent mat that repels insects and animals? I used to camp out a lot when I was in Scouts, and I loved it, all but the bugs. I would wake up in the morning covered with itchy mosquito bites, and that was bad enough, but the occasional spider bites and “mystery bites” were often painful. I hated those bugs. I also hated the raccoons and possums and squirrels, etc, that would sneak into the campsite and even inside my tent in the night and help themselves to my candy bars and marshmallows.

If I’d had a Repell-em tent mat, I could have enjoyed a great night’s sleep out in the great outdoors and I wouldn’t have had to worry about getting bitten and attacked by the wildlife while I slept. It would also have been a lot more comfortable than putting my sleeping bag down on the hard ground.

If you’ve got a child who is a Scout, think about ordering some Repell-em tent mats. If you are a Scout leader, do more than just think about it. Nobody likes to be eaten alive by insects, and nobody likes to toss and turn all night on lumpy ground. With a Repell-em tent mat, both problems are solved!

You can buy most Repell-em products at most large Cabela’s stores, or you can order them online.
