All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

Archive for the 'no skunks' Category

I live out in the country, and we have to take all of our trash to the dump, ourselves.  This means that unless we drive to the dump every day, there will almost always be a sack (or two)  (or three) of trash sitting out on the deck.

Until we discovered Repell-em trash bags, this meant that nearly every day, we spent fifteen or so minutes crawling around picking up our trash, because when you live out in the country and set a bag of smelly delights out on the deck, you’re really just asking for it.  The possums, raccoons, mice, and even the deer will come running, and because they can see the white plastic and smell whatever’s inside so clearly, you’re fighting a losing battle.

HOWEVER, with Repell-em bags, it’s quite a different story!  Animals can’t see the red bags, and they can’t smell whatever might be inside them.  They don’t get close enough to really even try, either, because the combination of various natural ingredients that make up the Repell-em magic honestly live up to their name:  the animals are genuinely REPELLED.

In other words, I can set three or four Repell-em bags full of garbage, out on the deck, right by the woods, overnight, and overnight again, and nothing will bother them.

When I tell you that I will never buy any other kind of trash bag, I’m not exaggerating, not the least bit.  Repell-em trash bags are perfection.  PERFECTION.  Well, the animals and bugs don’t like them, but I sure do!

An ideal gift for someone who loves to camp would be package containing Repell-em tablecloths, Repell-em tent mats, and Repell-em tent liners. Throw in a box of Repell-em trash bags, and you’ll have a fantastic gift for the outdoors-loving person in your life!

With Repell-em products at the campsite, there will be no bugs and no animals to tear up your trash and spread it all over the woods. You’ll sleep in comfort because no mosquitoes or any other creepy crawling biting stinging insect will come near you.

If you yourself are an outdoorsy person, or if you have family and friends who love to camp, a box full of Repell-em products would be much appreciated!

Imagine! Camping without clouds of flies and mosquitoes biting and annoying you!

With Repell-em products, that can happen!

In the summer, we usually keep a large trash can out on the deck.  That’s where we deposit the watermelon rinds, corn husks, tomato peelings, etc, so they don’t mess up the kitchen.

The giant trash can used to have a lid but that blew off in the last windstorm and split down the middle, so there’s just a big open trash can out there.

You can imagine the problems that caused before I started using Repell-em trash bags exclusively: my deck was like a big possum buffet.  I spent many boring, tedious, and embarrassing hours crawling around my yard, picking up the bits of garbage that the wildlife had rejected.

Now, however, even with the lid gone, my garbage sits on the deck completely and 100% unmolested!  I’m embarrassed to admit to you how many watermelon and canteloupe rinds are in that trash bin as I type, and I’ve long since lost count of the corncobs.

I don’t have to worry or even think about that stuff now.  Repell-em trash bags have made my life so much simpler and better; there just aren’t enough positive things I could say about these products.

Try them.  You’ll love them too!

I’m getting some emails from people who want to know EXACTLY what the 100% natural ingredients in Repell-em products are, so here is this post again, with all the details!

Repell-em products repel almost all insects and animals, so they must be made out of some pretty poisonous ingredients, right?

Oh, so WRONG!

Repell-em products are 100% safe; you can eat off them, you can sleep on them, you can sit on them, you can harbor them inside your home knowing they are not only perfectly safe but also knowing that they are KEEPING you safe from unwanted animals, stinky smells, and insects and all the disgusting diseases and itchiness they can cause.

A house with Repell-em products in it is a cleaner, better-smelling, safer house.

And about those ingredients that make Repell-em products the extremely successful products that they are? Let’s check them out, just to make sure they’re all right for you to keep near your children.

peppermint“Peppermint.” Well, they make candy out of peppermint, so it must be entirely edible. Plus, peppermint smells really, really nice. So far, so good.

citronella

“Citronella.” We already know this keeps insects away because it’s so commonly used in outdoor candles. Completely harmless to humans. Well, we use it in Repell-em products, too. We’re still good.

rosemary

“Rosemary.” Makes me remember the Simon and Garfunkle song, “Scarborough Fair.” Rosemary is a very edible herb. No danger yet.

cloves

“Cloves.” Mmm, I love to smell cloves. I put cloves in pumpkin pie, and persimmon pudding, and sweet-and-sour cocktail meatballs. In other words, cloves are edible, too.

geranium

“Geranium.” My mother always has huge pots of geraniums on either side of her front door in the summertime. They’re beautiful. They’re also perfectly safe; people even make tea out of them. Safe, safe, safe.

lemon

“Lemon.” Lemons are citrus fruits and people love to squeeze the juice and make lemonade. Everybody loves lemonade. Lemonade, lemon pie, lemon pudding. . . . you get the picture. Another absolutely safe ingredient.

apple

“Apple.” Unless you’re Adam or Eve, apples aren’t going to cause you any harm. In fact, apples will keep the doctor away! Apples are healthy; one of the healthiest fruits out there. If apples are one of the Repell-em ingredients, then Repell-em must surely be a safe product.

All of these very natural, very safe ingredients, plus a little mineral oil, are what Repell-em products are made of. There is nothing remotely toxic, in any way, about any of them. It’s the combination that makes the bags repellent to insects and animals, even while the combined aroma of the bags is VERY pleasant to human noses.

Once the weather gets warm, there is always a half-filled bag of potting soil on my porch.  After a while, the animals and insects discover it and make it their home away from home; or worse, they make it their main home!

It’s bad enough, what the cats do when they find the bag of soil.  And when I need to use some of the potting soil, and put my hands in it, and come up with. . . . well, it’s no fun.

One summer, little burrowing bees found the bag of potting soil and THAT was an experience I don’t want to live through any time soon.

This summer, I’m keeping the leftover potting soil in a Repell-em trash bag.  No insects will come near it, no animals will, well, you know, in it.  Repell-em bags are thick and strong, so the soil won’t eat the bag away and then scatter all over the place.

Repell-em bags are PERFECT for storing summer gardening things, such as potting soil or fertilizer.  Plus, they’re pretty and red and look nice sitting behind the porch swing!

Actually, it’s after midnight, and there are four red Repell-em trash bags sitting out on my deck because there just wasn’t room for them in the kitchen.

With any other kind of trash bag, I would wake up in a few hours to find our trash strewn all over the yard, and all the raccoons, possums, and insects in the world feasting on our garbage.  I consider any trash bag that isn’t a Repell-em trash bag to be an inferior trash bag, by the way.

No inferior trash bags in my house, ever again!

We are a Repell-em family now.  And I love being able to set my trash out on my deck the night before we take it eight miles down the road to the dump.

Oh, and ever since I started using Repell-em products, exclusively, people come into my kitchen and ask me what that wonderful smell is; they think it’s a scented candle, or popourri.  That’s how good Repell-em products smell to people.  My cats, on the other hand, won’t come near them, but that’s exactly how it should be!

My husband drove to town yesterday and picked up his mother’s trash, intending to take it directly to the landfill.  She’s been ill, and unable to set her trash out on the curb, for several weeks, and he came home with a truck bed FULL of ick.  He wasn’t able to get to the dump right away, and his truck bed is still full of “inferior” trash bags, all of them full to bursting with smelly, stinky garbage.

He then backed his truck up to our deck, so we could add our trash to the load he already had.  We live out in the country, you see, and we have to take our trash to the dump ourselves; there is no pickup.

The sun was shining all day today, which was really nice until I looked into that truck bed and saw all the bugs.  Possums bit the trash bags open in the night, releasing the odors, which then attracted every bee, wasp, hornet, fly, gnat, and numerous nameless other bugs, all eager to feast.  And the SMELL?  Gross.

Then I tossed OUR trash into the truck bed, on top of the inferior brands.  Thirty seconds later, every single insect was gone.  Thirty inferior white trash bags and three superior red Repell-em bags, and guess who won?

Repell-em, that’s who.

I watched the bugs fly away.  I couldn’t see the wingless ones exit, but I’m betting it was a traffic jam to get out of there.

I would never use any other trash bag now.  Repell-em products are the BEST.

My daughter drove all the way down here today to “borrow” four Repell-em trash bags from me.  (I think I know what I’m getting her for her birthday this summer!)

She’s going to be out of town, and wants to set her trash out the night before instead of the morning of.  She can’t do that with regular trash bags because of all the dogs, cats, raccoons, and possums in her apartment complex.

That’s right; you heard me.  In southern Indiana, there are raccoons and possums  even in the city.  They’re everywhere. There is no escape from them.  And if you don’t play your cards right, they will tear into your garbage and spread it everywhere, causing you great hardship and even harsh fines if you don’t get it cleaned up absolutely right away.

My daughter doesn’t want to save her garbage for a week, and I don’t blame her - I raised her to not like to dwell in the midst of garbage - hence her 30-mile drive to get the Repell-em bags.

Where she’s going, there is a big Cabela’s,  so she plans to buy herself a package of Repell-em bags there.  I always order mine off the website, but Cabela’s does carry them.

(They’re on sale, on the website, right now!)

I took my last package of Repell-em trash bags to the college today and gave one to each of my students.  I’d been bragging on the merits of Repell-em so much, and had already given a few Repell-em bags to students who were having problems (skunks under the house, etc.) and after I told my students yesterday that Repell-em could get rid of the ants in a kitchen, ALL of my students wanted to try it.

Jeepers.  That’s a lot of trash bags.  But that’s all right, because I want EVERYBODY to see first-hand just how well this product works.

Most of the time, when we read or hear about a new product’s merits, we have to discount at least half of it.  I was skeptical when I first learned about Repell-em products, too.

Now, however, I’ve used Repell-em products and I’m thoroughly convinced of their superiority over every other brand of trash bag in any store, anywhere.

I used to have no “brand loyalties” when it came to trash bags.  Hefty?  Glad?  Store brand?  I’d buy whatever was on sale, because they were all pretty much alike.

But Repell-em is different.  Repell-em really does repel insects and animals.  With Repell-em, you never have to worry about stray dogs getting into your trash and spreading it all over the street.  With Repell-em, you don’t have to worry about possums, or raccoons, or skunks.  With Repell-em, there will be no bees or ants or cockroaches.  With Repell-em, there will be no mice.

And this holds true whether you’re using your Repell-em bags as trash bags, or if you’re using them for any of the hundreds of other uses they have, INSIDE your house!  Just check this blog’s archives if you want some helpful hints!

I will be very interested to learn how my students will put their Repell-em bag to use.  Some will, naturally, just use it as a trash bag, but since southern Indiana is pretty much flooded out of existence right now, I’m guessing that several students will use their Repell-em bag to get rid of wild animals that are taking refuge in crawl-spaces and attics.

I’ll keep you posted.

Want to buy some Repell-em products?  They’re still on sale!  And remember, they’re made of 100% natural ingredients, and are completely biodegradable.

I got an e-mail the other day asking if the 100% natural ingredients that make up a Repell-em product would wash off in the rain.

The answer, of course, is “no,” but just to be on the safe side, I did another experiment.

We’ve had torrential rain lately (my basement is flooding!) and when I say “torrential,” what I really mean is TORRENTIAL. It’s the kind of rain that strips the bark off the trees, and sends all the animals - even the big ones like deer - to cower under the bushes. It was perfect for an experiment.

So, I stuffed a Repell-em trash bag with the remnants of Friday night’s fried chicken frenzy - oops, I mean, feast -  and set it out in the rain. It rained so hard on that bag, that it almost flattened the bag. It rained on the Repell-em bag on Friday night, and on Saturday, and Saturday night, and on Sunday morning.

The KFC-stuffed Repell-em trash bag is still intact.

It’s really not possible for the “repellent” to wash off the Repell-em bags, because the ingredients are not just a coating on the outside of the bag: the ingredients are what the bag is actually made of. The entire bag is created with the mixture of the ingredients and the plastic; the bag isn’t merely covered with a veneer.

A Repell-em bag is an entity unto itself. A Repell-em bag isn’t a regular plastic trash bag dyed red and sprayed with temporary insect and animal repellent.

When you buy Repell-em products, you are buying quality products.

You are also guaranteeing yourself an insect-free and pesky animal-free environment.

Speaking of environment, you are also helping “GREEN” the environment when you use Repell-em products. Repell-em products are 100% biodegradable.
