So I got my recent order of Repell-em garbage bags yesterday and my level of excitement immediately surprised me. I was bouncing around like a kid in a candy store just itching to tare open the box. But why? After all they are just garbage bags right? It’s not like there was money inside the square package sitting in front of me. Then it hit me; I was about to completely re-define a part of my life. It would be the same as if suddenly televisions as we know them…these square, sometimes flat boxes…suddenly were made to float in mid air like a hologram or a low hanging cloud. I was holding not just a garbage bag, but also the next wave of environment friendly, extra strong, animal and insect repelling future of garbage bags.
First off the package had a great design. All of our cleaning supplies are located under the kitchen sink and none of them are square. We’ve got cans of furniture polish, bottle of glass cleaner, air freshener, and there crammed next to all of these round object sits a square bulky box of garbage bags. Repell-em bags come in a tube that opens at both ends so you don’t have to search for a way to get them out. The green label located on the inside also does a great job in listing all of the active ingredients, your standard “these bags are not a toy” type warning labels, and in big letters the words DEET-FREE let you know they are safe to touch.
Now I was expecting a very intense chemical smell when I opened the tube. Sorta like the odor the pest control guy leaves after spraying the house. Instead what I got was a perfume…flowery…natural fragrance that didn’t make me want to whence at its strength, but instead it invited me to smell again.
The red bags (designed that way because animal and pests have trouble seeing red) feel stronger than the bags under my sink. My other bags would break if you tried to stick your finger through them, but Repell-em bags just continue to hold their form. I know this is going to sound funny, but I can’t wait to put some trash into these things.
