All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

I may have mentioned it a few times, but I’ve got a 17 month old son and if it’s one thing he likes its milk. With milk going at around $3.50-$3.98 a gallon these days (good thing we don’t fill up our cars with it) and my family going through about 4 gallons a week it’s nice to see somebody being able to make something out of all those empty jugs. That’s exactly what Loll Designs is doing by building all of their products out of HDPE (high density polyethylene). HDPE is a combination of plastics from such everyday home products like milk jugs, plastic containers of butter, cleaner bottles, detergent containers, and garbage cans (ever think that even garbage cans become garbage at some point?).

The folks at Loll take this HDPE along with 90% of their own recycled waste and turn it into some of the coolest outdoor furniture around. Plus the company practices what they call “Consolidated Production” By holding all orders for one week the eco-designer is able to accumulate orders for a particular design and manufacture them all at one time instead of wasting their resources creating 1 of chair A today 2 of chair B tomorrow 1 more chair A the day after. In their own words:

“It is sort of like rolling-out cookie dough and either cutting one cookie at a time or cutting out a dozen at once. Better yields and improved efficiencies save us money but we pass the savings along to our customers with FREE shipping.”

Here’s a peak at just a few of their classic designs made from recycled products. Oh and special thanks to Carter McGuyer for the heads up on this amazing green product:
