All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

Power is a constant source of anguish around my house as I’m sure it is yours as well. Too much is too expense, too little isn’t enough. We used to get lucky during the winter simply because I prefer the cold and have been known to let the inside temp drop as low and 58. My way of thinking was that if I could barely see my breath, the house was the perfect temp. I slept better (I was practically hibernating) and my heat bill never took the leap that other face during the winter. Now that we have the baby we still keep it near 65. After all the savings on the heat is nothing compared to a few trips to the Dr. with a sick one year-old.

Lights also seem to be an issue. I hate the dark so if it were up to me the second the sun went behind a cloud every light in the house would get flipped on. My wife’s the opposite. The darker the better and again less power used equals a greater savings at the end of the month.

What about the power being wasted during times when we aren’t at home though. Take a second and think about all the things you leave running during the day. The VCR, TV,DVD, and Stereo all have displays that stay lit 24/7. Can you count the number of lights, appliances (excluding the fridge), and electronics you leave on while at work? If you’re like me you hate being late which means I’m rushing around the house just minutes before I leave, checking every room to make sure the iron, rollers, and lamps are turned off.

All this wasted energy brings me to the Green Switch. Designed with saving energy and time in mind, The Green Switch can be connected to every light, TV, and any unnecessary power user and have them all cut off with the twitch of a switch. Through the use of wireless technology the nifty gadget has recently caught the eye of uber-activist Ed Begley Jr. CEO Gregory Hood says:

“One of our main priorities in developing GreenSwitchâ„¢ is its convenience, because bottom line, we are hoping that as a result of its simplicity, people will use it to save energy and save money. You don’t realize how much standby power you are using in your house. Just look around your home and see how many red and green lights are on.”

Set aside the fact that your power bill is almost guaranteed to drop, just think about how much safer and guilty free you will feel when taking that next family vacation. Gone are the days of worrying about leaving the iron, stove, or heater on. With one flip of a switch those problems are solved instantly. For more on the Green Switch take a look at their site.
