Over the weekend I came across the list below of the Top 15 Green Movies. It was put togther by The Gist and featured as part of the LIVE EARTH site that MSN set up in support of the concert for climate change. I’ve looked the list over and of course you have to include “An Inconvenient Truth”, ”Silkwood”, and ”The China Syndrome”…but ”Chinatown”? That’s a classic down and dirty crime story!?! Another one the blew me away was ”Fire Down Below”, yes it was about the dumping of pollution still though it’s got Steven Segal in it and his name should never be placed in the Top 15 of anything except those starting with “Worset ever….” ”Gorillas In The Mist” is a given, but what is “Winged Migration”? Here is the list in it’s entirety:
- An Inconvenient Truth
- Erin Brockovich
- Winged Migration
- Chinatown
- Silkwood
- A Civil Action
- Gorillas In The Mist
- The Day After Tomorrow
- The China Syndrome
- Hoot
- The End Of Suburbia
- Blue Vinyl
- Happy Feet
- Who Killed The Electric Car
- Fire Down Below
See what I mean? “Blue Vinyl” sounds more like one of the shows you might see running all day on The Discovery Channel. I couldn’t take it so I made my own Top 15 Green movies (in no particular order). Bear in mind that some of these show us the disaterous consequences of not dealing with the problems of global warming and our effect on the environment:
- The Day After Tomorrow (Ever heard of global cooling? This could be us in a few years)
- Godzilla (I’m talking about the last one featuring Matthew Broderick. Tell me pollution didn’t have something to do with that giant lizard?)
- King Kong(Again giant animal=our government dumped something illegal somewhere)
- Field Of Dreams(The movie made millions of people everywhere realize that corn/wheat fields are a national treasure…thats where all our ex-baseball players go to live when they die)
- Gorillas In The Mist
- March Of The Penguins (Hello!! Morgan Freeman talking penguins? I’ve never wanted one for a pet so much in my entire life until after I saw them try to survive from day to day)
- Twister (You can not tell me that global warming didn’t have something to do with all those tornados hitting in one day so close togther)
- Outbreak(That disease didn’t just happen. We some how got that monkey sick)
- The Abyss(Remember at the end how the aliens came up from the bottom of the ocean and told Ed Harris to quit polluting?)
- Swarm(Think bees attacking humans for no reason is science fiction? Google it and you’ll see this is all too real)
- The Inconvenient Truth
- The China Syndrome
- Dr. Doolittle II (Eddie Murphy and a talking bear trying to safe a forest…enough said)
- Jaws (That shark went after that family 3 times and an entire water park in between. There’s no way it didn’t have some type of pollution induced super intelligence that it passed on from generation to generation)
- The Birds (Still gives me the willies everytime I look at a crow. They wanted their land back!!!)
Buy Repell-em Garbage Bags and keep the animals away!
