Repell-em Around My Ankles = No Chigger Bites!
Posted in Chiggers, household use, Helpful Hints, Safety, Blogroll, Outdoors, Repell-emMy husband and I decided that this one sunny day of the entire month of June (so far) should be spent weeding out the completely out-of-control raised vegetable bed in the back yard.
It’s made of railroad ties, and it’s about two feet wide and fifteen feet long. Until an hour ago, it was surrounded on all sides by weeds as tall as two feet. We had to step on those to get to the even taller weeds INSIDE our railroad flat. Finally, the job was done.
It’s late to plant but what can you do when every single day the skies have literally broken open and POURED rain for weeks and weeks?
Now, what does this have to do with Repell-em products? PLENTY! In the past, we’ve had to wear long pants, and put a rubber band around our ankles, and spray stinky smelly dangerous insect repellent all over our bodies, to keep the chiggers away.
Don’t laugh. Chiggers bite, and they bite HARD, and the bites itch and ache and last for days and days.
Today, we just tied little strips of Repellem around our ankles and went to work.
It’s been an hour, and so far, no evidence of any chigger attacks whatsoever.
