All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

102_1932I set out these three trash bags - the Hefty, the Glad, and the Repellem - last night at 6:p.m.

Within an hour, the possums were already at work, tearing holes in the Glad and the Hefty to get at the powerful-smelling “goodness” inside the bags. Please notice that the Repell-em bag has not been touched.

The red-handled Hefty bag got the worst of the hungry possum’s attack; I actually saw a huge possum wrap its jaws around the Hefty bag and start to drag it off the deck. When I opened the door, the possum ran away. I gathered up most of the scattered trash and rebagged it, again in a Hefty bag. The yellow-handled Glad bag was gnawed on and had quite a few smallish holes in it, but it was the Hefty bag that the possums seemed to love best.

Did I mention that the Repell-em bag was not even touched? It was as though the possums couldn’t even see it there. It’s for sure they couldn’t smell what was inside.

102_1938Just a few minutes ago, while I was bagging up some more tasty possum goodness in another yellow-handled Glad bag, the possums struck again. They only had time to pull out a few things before I chased them away. I set out the new, third bag of trash and before I even had time to sit down, the possums were back. Possums sure must like empty Lay’s green onion-flavored chips bags, because that’s the first thing they pull out of the trash. The red-handled Hefty bag is still there, in between the two Glad bags. I haven’t touched or moved the Repell-em bag, and neither have the animals.

I wonder if the Repell-em bag will still be untouched tomorrow morning? I’m guessing “no” for the Hefty and Glad bags, since the possums can’t even wait for me to shut the door and sit down before they all come to dinner on my deck. And, I’m guessing “yes” for the Repell-em bag.

Again, stay tuned!
