All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

102_1951The torn-up Hefty and Glad trash bags were such a mess on my deck this morning that I had no choice but to clean it up and re-bag the garbage. The red-handled bag is a Hefty bag; the yellow-handled bag is a Glad bag, and the plain white bag between them is a Sam’s Club bag. The red Repell-em bag is still intact, and I did not touch it in any way.

You can also see that the snow is finally melting, but you can still see a few animal tracks.

The Hefty, Glad, and Sam’s Club trash bags are, in fact, DOUBLE-bagged, since I stuffed the torn-up original bags inside the new bags.

As I re-bagged the trash and garbage in the new bags, I wondered how long the animals would wait before they came to dinner on my deck again. I didn’t have to wait long.

102_1952Less than a MINUTE after I re-bagged the garbage, a stray cat was there, pawing all over the Glad bag first, the Sam’s Club bag next, and finally the Hefty bag. The cat didn’t even seem to SEE the Repell-em bag!

So far, this same Repell-em trash bag has been sitting out on my deck, full of chicken scraps, eggshells, lemon rinds, week-old pasta, newspaper, and cardboard for almost four days. The other three trash bags contain the very same items. Raccoons, possums, dogs, and cats have been all over the three white trash bags, tearing them open and eating the contents, but not a single animal has noticed the Repell-em bag. The red-handled Hefty bag, sitting right next to the Repell-em bag, has not been “molested” as badly as the bags farther away. Tomorrow, I’m going to move ALL of the other trash bags away from the Repell-em bag, to see whether or not the Repell-em aura has been protecting them even a little bit.

This would be a really good Science Fair project!
