Repell-em Trash Bags: Mightier Than Double-Thick Construction-Site Trash Bags!

If you took another look at Friday’s post, you would see these two bags - the red Repell-em trash bag and the huge ultra-heavy construction site trash bag - sitting on my deck in the bright sunshine, both unmolested. Remember, both bags are full of stinky smelly food and meat scraps, and other tasty animal-kingdom-loving trash.
Saturday morning, both bags were still untouched, but the weather had changed a little.
By Sunday morning, “something” had found the big thick heavy construction site trash bag too irresistible to leave alone.
What in the world could have been strong enough to drag that extremely heavy construction site trash bag across the deck like that? It couldn’t have been the stray cats, and the deck is too high for a dog to leap up onto.
I waited at the patio doors for a while, and then I realized that the big black bag was moving.
I opened the door a crack, stuck my camera out and snapped a picture of this very strong culprit who smelled the contents of an amazingly thick and heavy construction-site trash bag from clear out in the woods.
That, my friends, is a great big possum. It had seized the black trash bag in its huge jaws and was literally dragging it across the deck. You can tell that it’s bitten at least one hole through the thick plastic because the bag is leaving a trail of garbage behind it. The smaller red Repell-em trash bag behind the black trash bag has still not been touched.
The almost two feet of snow we got on Friday night/Saturday morning is almost gone tonight, Sunday night. It’s supposed to be in the sixties tomorrow.
We’ll see if the warm sunshine cooks the nasty contents of the Repell-em bag into something that the animals can detect.
Stay tuned.
By the way, possums can be dangerous. They carry rabies. They also run like the wind, tend to lean against a wall when running, and like to dart into your house whenever they can. Don’t ever try to approach a possum, because, rabid or not, they BITE. Their jaws are long and their teeth are sharp. They have an excellent sense of smell, but it’s not excellent enough to detect anything through a Repell-em product.
