When I was a kid we lived in a large apartment complex. I remember there were kids everywhere and we used to gather at a near by field to play baseball. The thing was the complex always had people coming and going, so there were always cars zooming in and out of the place. No matter how many times I heard her say it, my mom would always shout at us kids “Remember to look both ways before crossing the street”. To this day I still hear her voice when I’m walking around downtown.
It was just going to be a snack, I’m not sure I was even really that hungry. I was always easily distracted, like most teenagers, therefore it’s no surprise that once the phone rang I forgot all about the stove, the eye currently set on HI, or anything else that wasn’t being told to me through the phone line.
