All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

It seems like just yesterday I was complaining about having to trudge through the cold to get firewood and wouldn’t you know the temps are expected to be in the lower 70’s this weekend. If anything is an example of Global Warming in effect it’s the fact that here in Alabama we are all walking about in T-shirts and shorts two weeks before Christmas. And some experts say it’s just going to get worse unless a large scale plan is enacted to reverse the effects of climate change.

This week a report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development was released and it’s not good. According to the report by the year 2070 over $35 trillion…let me say that again $35 trillion!! homes and business will be at risk of flooding due to rising coastal waters around the world.

Among those cities most in danger of flooding Dhaka Bangladesh, Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam, Miami, New York, and New Orleans are seen as being at great risk. Climate change is already happening, and concerted action is needed now to prevent its worst impacts.A range of economic policy options is available and political commitment is needed to implement them” Says the Secretary General of the OECD. The reports list the hurricane Katrina ravaged New Orleans as a prime example of what the rest of the world can expect in terms of destruction. “New Orleans may never fully recover and another major hurricane landfall could trigger further decline or even total abandonment.Given the large and growing concentration of people and assets in port city locations, and the importance of global trade, failure to develop effective adaptation strategies would inevitably have not just local but also large national and even wider economic consequences"
