It’s autumn, and that’s spider time!  Those creepy and sometimes dangerous little - or big! - spiders are invading our homes and setting up camp in our shoes!

Be careful, in fact, when you get out your cold-weather shoes, for brown recluse spiders love to live in the toes of our boots.  A bite from a brown recluse is nothing to take lightly, either; they can even be fatal!

How do we get rid of spiders without spraying harmful chemicals?  Easy!  Just cut a few Ecosmart Repellem trash bags or tablecloths up, and arrange the pieces in, among, and around your shoes in your closet. Throw a piece of Repellem over your closet bar, too.  In fact, put your summer clothes in a Repellem bag before storing them away, and you’ll be really glad next spring when you get them out again.

My daughter drove all the way down here today to “borrow” four Repell-em trash bags from me.  (I think I know what I’m getting her for her birthday this summer!)

She’s going to be out of town, and wants to set her trash out the night before instead of the morning of.  She can’t do that with regular trash bags because of all the dogs, cats, raccoons, and possums in her apartment complex.

That’s right; you heard me.  In southern Indiana, there are raccoons and possums  even in the city.  They’re everywhere. There is no escape from them.  And if you don’t play your cards right, they will tear into your garbage and spread it everywhere, causing you great hardship and even harsh fines if you don’t get it cleaned up absolutely right away.

My daughter doesn’t want to save her garbage for a week, and I don’t blame her - I raised her to not like to dwell in the midst of garbage - hence her 30-mile drive to get the Repell-em bags.

Need a great gift for a Boy/Girl Scout? How about a tent mat that repels insects and animals? I used to camp out a lot when I was in Scouts, and I loved it, all but the bugs. I would wake up in the morning covered with itchy mosquito bites, and that was bad enough, but the occasional spider bites and “mystery bites” were often painful. I hated those bugs. I also hated the raccoons and possums and squirrels, etc, that would sneak into the campsite and even inside my tent in the night and help themselves to my candy bars and marshmallows.
