Would you believe that at 18 months my son just came home last week with a fundraiser?!? “Dear Parents in support of your daycare please find the attached tickets to a fish fry we are holding on such and such date. You’re help selling these is greatly needed and appreciated”, it read. I love how they skip all pretenses that the baby was somehow going to find a way to peddle the meal tickets door to door like an encyclopedia salesman and instead demanded mom/dad to do the dirty work. At the office there’s a constant game being played where everyone promises to buy from each other’s fundraiser de’jure in order to fill their assigned quota of merchandise. Though I understand the reason behind them, they things they expect you to buy are often ridiculous and regularly over priced.
Apparently California mom Jennifer Caronna felt the same way and decided to do something about it. By introducing an all green coupon book called the My GreenSpark Redemption Book Jennifer has completely changed the future of fundraising.
“Our Green Coupon Book serves many purposes. First, it raises money for our customers in an ethical manner, while promoting Green and Healthy habits. Second, instead of participating in school assemblies that teach them how to shill cookie dough to family and friends, students are exposed to the idea of living green and eating healthy and how both are equally as important in creating healthy communities. Further to this point, our redemption book doubles as an educational tool, with explanations on the stubs of each coupon telling why we as consumers should use this product or service to better our health and the environment. We think that our book will provide the “Green Spark” that families need to see just how easy all of this can be. And finally, when used, the coupons do create “Green Consumers”. The more coupons we redeem, the less impact we have on our environment and the healthier we become. We encourage families to explore the contents of the book together. To find a few new products and services, as a family, that will lead them on the path to a Greener, Healthier, Happier lifestyle”
With coupons from green manufacturers of home product, green clothing, green vacations, the GreenSpark Redemption book is also about to be available on line. One of the first things Jennifer and the other moms working with her noticed is that a number of green companies operated over the Internet. As for the school and/or organization that decide to participate in the selling of the coupon books they receive up to 50% of all purchase. This just may be the best green item of the year folks.
