Like everyone else I tend to get a ton of forwards daily. Most I toss, some I glance at, while others for one reason or another draw my attention and force me to pay attention. Have you received this one yet:
“*27th August; the day the Whole World is waiting for .
Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.
It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65 Million miles of earth.
Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am . It will look like the earth has 2 moons.
The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287.
Share this with your friends as NO ONE ALIVE TODAY will ever see it again”
Admittedly I was hooked. The thought of looking up in the sky tonight and seeing two moons was something you only see in horror movies. You know the ones I’m talking about. Two moons appear in the sky for the first time ever or a comet that only zips past Earth every 1,000 years unleashes a curse on the world leaving zombies ravaging the streets searching for those that were smart enough to be inside at 1:00 a.m. Well zombies or no zombies I immediately marked the date and made plans to stay up past midnight on weekday!!! Trust me this is a major feat for a thirty-something with a child.
Then today yesterday I came across this news story :
“The “Mars Hoax” or “Two Moons” email claims that Mars will be a big as the moon! It claims that in the early morning hours of August 27th, Mars will look as large, full, and bright as a full moon, and “no one alive today will ever see this again.” While this theory sounds exciting, it’s just not true.”
As it turns out Mars will only appear as a red dot in the sky which I know it’s as cool, but at least we don’t have to worry about some flesh eating beast eating our brains.
