All about the Repell-em garbage bags and tablecloths

I hate the gym though it’s not from lack of trying. I’ve owned three gym memberships in my lifetime and they always run the same course. I make the mistake of glancing at myself in the mirror, decide now is the perfect time to slim down to my pre-marriage weight, find a gym that is convenient and comfortable, and go 3-4 times a week for two months. It’s during that four month mark something starts to happen…somewhere deep inside my body begins to question all the jogging and pedaling when it’s obvious I’m not going anywhere or getting anything accomplished. Next thing I know every time I climb on the tread mill all I can think is ”Why am I walking in place for an hour when I could simply walk the block and 1/2 to my local deli and back? I’ll be getting the same amount of exercise and it’s not like I don’t drive there straight afterward anyway.” So within weeks I promise to walk around the neighborhood more, save myself the cash I was spending at the gym, and forget all about how my shirts are beginning to fit more snug than they used too.

Now that I’ve read about how the Chinese have come up with a way to turn those Stairmaster miles into something, I gotta admit this might be away to keep me in the gym. Always a step ahead of us The California Fitness Center in Hong Kong has come up with the idea of connecting a battery to the equipment. The power gathered in the batteries are then used to power the lights in the gym. With the average person being able to store at least 50 watts an hour the idea has proven not only be a great money saver, but also a major money maker. Says one club member “I think it’s a really good idea. At least the energy is used for something good. It gives you more reason - you are not wasting what you are using, so it’s better that way.”

As for us in America wasting away in our environmentally un-friendly gyms? The President of The California Fitness center thinks “If that proves successful and economically viable, then we see nothing that would stop us from continuing to grow to more and more of our clubs, and ultimately to the entire industry, and all clubs worldwide would consider and choose this kind of an alternative power source.” Now if only they could use that stored energy to make me a mid-workout pizza.
